Surgery

Some of you may remember about 4 years ago doctors noticed that I had a nodule on my thyroid. I had it biopsied and I was told it was fine and that I should have follow up appointments to watch it. Well, since I am so good at taking care of myself I have just recently gone in for a "follow-up" at my doctors request. Last Friday I had it biopsied again and this time the news was not so good. I went to the doctor yesterday afternoon to get the dreaded results. She told me that my cells did NOT look normal, they were very suspectious and that she wants me to have the noduke removed and probably the whole rightside of my thyroid. There is a 20% chance that it could be cancerous. In the event it is cancerous I will go through radioactive iodine procedures and will be on medicines. It is all overwhelming. I will be meeting with a surgeon to get his/her take on the surgery. I am hoping that I can finish nursing and get through the holidays and birthdays and maybe have the surgery in January. The procedure will leave a scar on my neck, but the recovery time is not that bad. I will only have to spend one night in the hospital. I will give an update as soon as I know more. Until then, Keep me in your prayers!

Compass Lake

I cannot believe I am just NOW posting pics from last weekend. OMG! We had so much fun at Compass Lake with Justin and Shannon. It puts a smile on my face just thinking about it! We talked and laughed and the guys drank a ton as usual. The kids jumped off the dock at least 100 times each! It was such a great trip. I wish I could sit on that deck every morning and drink my morning coffee. Ahh, that would be the good life! We are so thankful that our family lets us enjoy their "Little Slice of Heaven" with them, though. Justin is so funny. He is a big kid and he's ate up with wrestling just like my boys. So, they talked wrestling smack all weekend. I mean, can I get a break already!! HA! Well, thanks to Justin the boys are now watching wrestling 4 nights a week. Can I say, "PAY BACK"! Well, it was an amzing trip. Everyone had a wonderful time, Emmie included. Sweet Baby Shang just smiled and laughed all weekend. What a blessing. Being in such a serene place makes you realize that life is great, especially when spent with family!

The Ritz

Wow! We had such a great time in Amelia. There's nothing like doing nothing! No cooking, no cleaning, no laundry. The weather was wonderful. It seemed to get cloudy just when we were ready for a nap. We all enjoyed the beach. The boys tried skimboarding and Emerson loved playing in the sand. We tried to find some sharks teeth, but that didn't go over well. Our room was directly on the ocean, thanks to this man named Paul. He thought that would be better for us - at no extra charge! That was sooo great! We could step off our patio and go right to the beach. They had these beads set up the day we got there for you to make necklaces or bracelets. We went the next day to make some (Baylor could talk about nothing else) but they told us they only brought them out on the weekends. They could tell Baylor was upset so in Ritz Carlton fashion they sent us to a room and set them up just for us! It was fun and we all came away with a great memento! The pool at the Ritz is always relaxing. There's nothing like the beach breeze, palm trees blowing and someone bringing you cold Bud Lights on demand! Emerson loved playing in the sprinkler pool and the boys swam like fish! Emerson was so into every experience. Eyes wide open and couldn't miss a moment. Occasionally, we got her to take a nap. Our next adventure is to Compass Lake with Shannon and Justin. We are so looking forward to that!

AHHH! Vacation at Last

We've had a busy and fun weekend at home. Thanks to our great neighbors we enjoyed the 4th with a bang! The kids had fun playing with neighborhood friends and watching the fireworks. Emmie was totally entertained with the noise of the fireworks. She has decided that she cannot miss anything! She has figured out how to sit and pull up this weekend! She is a very busy girl. We are so not ready for her to start moving, but the time has come. It's Sunday and that means that we head to the Ritz in Amelia Island today. YEAHHH! We are all so excited. Baylor yelled from his bed this morning at 7am, "Is today the day we go to the Ritz Carlton?" I spent yesterday packing. As I was stacking clothes it occured to me - we've got a TON of kids! We are going for 4 days so thats a lot of clothes. Oh, the underwear!!! Landon is so excited that he can order from the Cabana! This child needs his own tab. I know I will have lots of pics to post when we get back! Here are some pics from the weekend.
